I have a 350 chevy down in my 78 monte. I recently bought a Summit racing distributor and Coil, now it dont seem to run right, I double checked to make sure it was on number one on top dead center. It sounds like its oly running on part of the cylnders. The headders are wrapped so its hard to tell if each cylender is hot or not. I checked to see if it was getting spark to the cylenders that didnt seem as hot and they are getting spark.

So what do i check next?? any help would be great.

Make sure the firing order is correct.

I did that like 3 times this is my first time working with a magnetic pickup distributor, Im used to the good ol' HEI but the intake sits up too high for it. Im thinking int in the distributor but i dunno. Oh and i got MSD plug wires too.

I am not sure how good magnetic pick up distributors are, but I wonder who makes the Summit brand. I know that the cheap chinese ones on ebay have been known to be bad out of the box, I wonder if that is the same case with Summit brand.

What other changes have you done to it? You implied that you could not run the HEI because of the design of the intake, has the intake been swapped out just recently? Have you checked total timing or pulled any plugs?

make sure the wires are fully engaged on the cap and the plugs. also check the vac advance, if any, and make sure it's corrected properly--ported/manifold.

is the cap cracked, do you have some wiped out plugs, is the advance stuck,... if its anything like the mallory distributor, id have to say your problem is the whole shootin match, sorry 🙁
