So I encountered a thread posted by ?? (My bad on who the postee was) that described how that individual was attempting to go about modifying a front fender for his project in an attempt to run larger wheels or bring the car down lower to the ground. Not sure of the ultimate goal. The included pictures showed the fender, the proposed or intended new inner fender, and the layout measurements for what was being considered by way of cuts and modifications. I did reply to the thread but now can't find any trace of it or my reply. Is this just me not looking in all the right places or did i fail to post my reply correctly and it got sifted out of the forum in question? i have run the search engine using about as many qualifying words and phrases as possible without any success. Input, anyone?

565BBChevy, thanks for the reply and the reference. Did wander over to "Your content" and surfed the history but found nothing about that fender in the thread list. Gotta conclude that 403 deleted it for some reason. Nothing in my reply had any "P" comment or accusations in it that I recall so maybe there was some something further back in the stack that I missed. Oh well. FYI, as I recall, what the dude was trying to do was section the inner fender brace of his front fender to gain additional room to raise the inner fender well up. Think the goal was to plug in taller tires and drop the vehicle closer to the ground at the same time. For the new inner fender well, what was being contemplated looked like an oversize trailer fender or possibly something from a five ton truck chassis. Lot of work to accomplish one way or the other.

Thanks for the heads up on that content link, appreciate it.

Could be any number of things. maybe OP deleted it or asked me/the mods to do it... Just isn't showing up for some reason... Only a few reasons I'll delete a thread entirely, and 90% of those involve spam. Dunno.

Or..... It could depend on where the info seemed logical to post @ the time vs a specific/started thread

I don't have a build thread, I just post some some in the "what did you do/what did you buy" common threads.

GP403, appreciate the input. Now think what may have happened is that I lost my WiFi uplink during an attempt to post my reply and the whole thing just ended up going to the cloud or wherever things go that suffer "internetus interuptus". This is a new router that I am using and I have enough issues with it just in the last few weeks since I picked it up that come spring I plan to promote it to door stop third class! Have a new fibre-optic sytem on the books for a spring install; comes complete with its own dedicated router than I actually can turn off. That was the best part of my old Comtrends; may it rest in peace. And to add insult to injury Microsoft just dumped an massive upgrade on me that buggered the desktop up and deleted a bunch of files. Managed to get the files back and rehabilitate the desktop but my desktop dolly just won't enlarge back to her original pre-update size on the scree. Double Bother.

Thanks again.

Scoti, bummer about there being no build thread. Appears to me that what you are doing by way of sectioning and reworking those fenders is interesting enough that it ought to merit a dedicated post. JUst me.

I was planning to post something up upon the finale. My priority focus is on completing my 64 truck build @ the moment. I didn't want to start a Malibu build thread that would mostly be stagnant w/the exception of downtime on the current project. It's a running/driving car that's just lower than the usual suspects so it was constantly buzzing the tops of the front fender wells/tubs. After a year or more of miles & subsequent settling of the front coils, the buzzing was happening more than desired. I started playing around w/a solution last year during the lock-down time w/some extra fenders I've accumulated over the years of playing w/G-body Malibus. The project will require taking a drivable car down for the effort so timing is playing a part (if I'm disassembling the front end, there's going to be more work done than just the taller inner wheel wells while it's @ that point).

I hear you. Off come the fenders and its an instant case of "While I'm in there........Why don't I.............."
