Is it possible to get factory or replacement side post battery cables? My cables are all doctored up and I think that is to blame for my volts light every morning. Thanks

I need to know also. I don't want those universal ones they sell at parts stores.

Same here. Well if it helps rockauto.com still has the negative ac delco cable but the positive one was discontinued. :x I just had a thought. I did see a set of cables on a cutlass yesterday but given the age of the car and condition of the engine I would not what the cables. How ever I was thinking maybe look for a good set of side post connectors and just cut them off and try to solder to the ends of your current cables ( with the ends cut off of course). Just an idea. Right now some one poorly crimped top post connectors and they are loose and copper is exposed. Also just today I was doing electrical work and found out that I can just twist the connector free. Thats bad. Anyway if you find out anything else please let me know.

what i did to replace my battery cables (top post) is measure how much i needed for each cable, then went to my lcal auto parts store and got the ones i needed, they were a little long but its better than being too short...

Yea those off the shelf cables r OK . And OEM can be found tho last I saw were on close out

But I just go to my local electric motor rebuild shop and get heavier cables made exactly how I want . More $ but way better unit.

I'm not sure if there is a difference at all, besides length. GM actually used the thickest possible cable gauges for all it's cars. It's the discount store brands you need to worry about. They are famous for showing a thick cable that's mostly cheap plastic insulation with a tiny copper wire inside, same thing with jumper cables.

Yeah I'm not a fan of cheap crap. Plus from the inside people I used to know that worked at these "Chain stores" sell inferior products mostly for profit. Btw since were on the same subject where does the other ends of the cables connect to? I see the positive cable running past the front behind the pulleys but can't see its ends. Thanks

Go to a NAPA store and talk to someone that has half a brain 8)
#717945 (positive)
#713564 (negative)
That 4 gauge wire, plenty big enough for anything you can run in an automobile.

The large lead from the positive is connected to your starter and the smaller lead goes to your alternator.
