ok i'm going to probably boxing in my stock control arms to save some cash but wondered if poly bushings are necasary. my oem rubber ones look fine to me but i know they aren't as solid as polys. who here has boxed their own control arms? did you do the top too or just the bottoms like i have seen/heard guys do. my malibu when all finished should be a 12 sec car on the strip but of course 3/4 of its time will be weekend cruiser on the street and highway. i see there are aftermarket arms to be had but some come with greasable bushings and makes me wonder why they do? i suppose poly bushings on the street squeak is why? otherwise whats the point of the grease? hmmmm? anyone have polys on their ride and have any squeaking? what is your guy's take on this? thanks!

the best ones to use are UCA--axle side-poly and frame side-heim style (johnny joints, del-a-sphere, etc) LCA same combo, but i forget which should be axle or frame side ( it think it's the opposite).
the rubber ones are of course soft, but our rear axles have bind issues under hard cornering. the RCA's are designed to flex to minimize this, but when you go to tubular/boxed arms... for the drag strip, poly is fine, i prefer greasable to eliminate the squeaks and to slightly lower the binding.

iirc didn't you box ur stock RCA's? about a year or so ago? does the ride feel any different and i take it that you are using greaseble polys?

no i got tubular arms with poly bushings. it feels better and worse. it's more solid and launches better, but i have had the rear bind in hard corners. right now i'm figuring out what i need for a b-body rear swap and will be going to heim style ends.
