olds 260 to olds 403 engine swap

i have a 1978 cutlass cruiser sw with a olds 260 small block v8 but want to go to the olds 403 small block v8. question is are the engine mounts the same? i assume that they are since both are small block v8 but just wanted to check. also what would i need to pair the 403 with a 700r4? thanks

Mounts will be the same. The 700R4 will be difficult to swap in due to it having a Chevy bolt pattern. A 2004R would be easier, or a 350T with a BOP bellhousing.

thanks for the info on the mounts. yeah i know its going to be a job mating the trans with it but i have heard there are a few companies that make kits to put the 700r4s on olds so didnt know if anyone knew the companies. looking for a 4 speed to handle 700hp and 600tq and still get good street fuel economy lol.

well i took your advice lol i found a 2004r that will handle the power i will be producing so no 700r4 for me lol. thanks alot!
