Olds 442 Rear in my Regal??

It's a popular swap for people who have the money. Pretty much bolt-in. Might have to change your drive shaft length but I don't know the specifics. In used stock form who knows how strong it still is but there are bigger and stronger aftermarket parts for those 8.5" housings than there are for 7.5" housings. As far as I know that price is in the right ballpark for what's included. Lots of guys have done this swap. As a matter of fact, the 7.625" posi parts I bought actually came from a guy on here that decided to do this swap instead after he found an 8.5".
 
Thats an 8.5 and will bolt right in. Theres no way I would spend $1k on a STOCK rear end though. For about that same price you could have a 12 bolt and be further ahead.
