olds carrier questions

ive got a 84 cutlass 307 car.
Its non posi, I was told the whole posi unti from my 86 camaro rear end should fit because they are both 7.5's
Is this true?

depends on gearing of both, if one has a higher than 3.37s and the other has 2.73s they wont work together, what are the ratios of both

2.14-3.08 work on same carrier
3.23-3.73 work on same carrier

gear ratio doesnt matter as far as it bolting in, you may need a ring gear spacer if you switch gears, which i would if you are going to have it apart. the issue i see is that the camaro may have 28 spline axels and your car has a 26 spline.

I'm going to have a go at this, pre 88 is supposed to have 26 splines, So I'm hoping that ti works out, I will deffinatly keep everyone posted.
The posi is a 2.73 Im guessing the cutlass shouldnt be any bigger then that.
Ill probably be going with richmond gears at some point.
Does the carrier thing still apply to aftermarket gears?
