60 bucks is a steal for sure, provided the blocks structurally sound. what year is it? what heads? or is it just a bare block? if you have 307 5A heads and matching intake then they'll work. i believe the 5A's should bump compression up but theyre not known for being a hi performance head (in the world of 307's it is). all your brackets, exhaust manifolds/headers, starter, distributor, carb, water pump, oil pan, valve covers and maybe some other odds and ends will bolt up no problem. what ever you do, do not skimp out on building it right the first time! having an engine built can be an expensive proposition if your budgets tight so be prepared to pony up the cash for it. for about a year i built up a cache of parts for my big block and then saved a few more moths for the machine work/assembly hopefully it turns out worth the wait. do it once do it right, youre already a leg up if you score a cheap block and plan on re-using your intake and heads.
