I have been looking for an olds parts interchange book or a book that lists all the casting numbers on olds motors/heads and all I can find are books for chevy and ford. Are there any Oldsmobile books out there?

This isn't complete, but it's a start:

There's a Olds GBody forum that has lots of resources, can't remember the name....just google.

I appreciate the link and I will probably buy those two books. But I am supposed to be buying a motor from a guy tomorrow. He told me it was a 68-70 350 Rocket and I just wanted to verify the numbers.

All 68-76 Olds 350 blocks have casting no. 295558 2. You can definitively determine the year of the block from the VIN derivative stamp. This is a nine-character stamp located on a pad on the driver's side of the block below and forward of the no. 1 exhaust port. The first character of the VIN derivative will be a 3 for Oldsmobile, the second will indicate the model year (8 = 1968, 0 = 1970, 3 = 1973, etc.). The third character is the assembly plant and the last six are the last six of the VIN for the car it was originally installed in.
