I bought a very solid '79 cutlass that I am trying to fix up. It does not have a vinyl top(thank goodness), but it does have some rust starting to appear right under the quarter/opera window trim and I have yet to figure out how to take the trim off. I am under the impression that you have to take the window out to get under the trim. If anyone can direct me to the correct link or explain it to me I would appreciate it.

I have not taken the glass out personally, but I have heard that you need to remove the interior panel going around the glass and there should be some clips/screws?? that hold the glass in. I believe that there will be some messy sealer that you will have to clean up.

I took of the interior panel to see if there was some screws or welds or something holding it together. I think the window sits on top of the crome trim and yes there is a bunch of black crap that I'm probably going to have to cut through. These must be problem areas, becuase I see a lot of them like that, but thankfully, mine has just started to get pitted (as far as I can see). It doesn't leak in the back and I took the vent in the doorpost out and looked in there too. it seems to be ok. Be my luck that I have a big ole hole right where I can't see it.

Oh yeah, what I was originally asking is taking out the window the only way to get the trim off, I got a little bit of topic.

Does the trim have clips that hold it on, I haven't really tried to pull or pry on them because I was afraid I was going to bend them (They're in good shape). I guess Ill just have to do some more investigation.
