Okay I have a 78 monte carlo with a new light switch. I suppose the wires could be crossed somewhere ? I need to ask does anyone's parking % tail lights come on when you turn key to on just the parking front and rear . If I'm not crazy they should not come on when light switch is off and key on unless you pull the light switch to the first notch...but that'd what's happening .someone say this is not the norm I then will do what is nessesary disconect sections and see were it's crosesd no the head lights do not come on whens it's doing this

With todays quality it could be the switch. The switch is always battery hot but no lights are to come on until the knob is pulled out. You didn't have any wires come out of the connector & get put into the wrong cavity?

Old switch did the same thing and I had ut apart to inspect if it were messed up the new was the double check " But I dud see some melring were some of the wires were in the multi plug that probly indicated a past problem . What pageant said about the possible juggling of the plug wires is my current concern it's possible some one switched the wires befor I bought the car and that I'm just noticing it now ....do either of you guys have any links to the pictures of the plugs with the wires visible? I might have a diagram not shure how it displays even if I do...thanks yes I will try the turn signal disconect not certain about it but it won't take long to do

This might be the color pinout of my plug il have to check minus the big ground wire I think is not included here

Hey" for now its working right ,lights only comes on when pulled on . Took time and checked the colors from info they were all on the right place .I found a busted 94 bulb near brake handle with possible short of sort lol" I took the plug loose at the column , wiggled the headlight switch and fiddled with a wire added to fuse box ect..at this point I don't know for certain what thing I did but it could of been what ever elcam said or indicated and might still be just taken hours to get the final confirmation on plug wires and looking at pic diagrams schematics back and forth 2 sets of numbers fir several of the switch to plug references...heres hoping it doesn't come back !...thanks for everything...case closed for now ...
