I checked this morning and got an e-mail from "paypal". This is what it said.
You have 1 new Security Message !

Thank you for using Pay Pal!

I clicked the link and filled it in, then thought about it before I clicked it to go through. I closed that window and went to the paypal website directly. It said NOTHING about a security problem Just thought everyone here ought to know since many of us use paypal.

good lookin out i have had stuff like that happen to me once it almost cost me alot of money

I got that same email last week and even had a follow up email saying its urgent that I go ahead and file it. Things is is that my phishing filter puts those emails in my junk folder. Paypal emails always go in my inbox, so when it showed up in my junk i got curious. opened it. looked legit but figured if it's super urgent, then I won't be able to pay for my next purchase through paypal. Haven't had any issues yet

As a general rule, NO site that deals with financial information will send you a link to click through. If you ever get one, close the E-Mail and go directly to the site through a bookmark you have and check for a message there. This is the way to avoid this type of phishing attack.

Another interesting new attack is where a trusted site gets hacked and they put a button over a button on that site so that you click it and are sent to a phony site instead. This is a new way to steal your data. I learned about this last night, and added the "no script" extension to my Firefox browser as it will block it as well as other scripts you may not wish to have. I love Firefox!
