Im thinking if removing some of those chrome trim pieces from my cruck.. In particular, the ones that sit on top of the bed and follows the roof.
I dont know what they're called though.

But how does an el camino look without them?

Does anyone have any pics to show of the modification?

Instead of me having to buy new clips to attach the trim pueces with, i could just remove them.

I have already removed those around the fenderwhels.

Thank you.

I did a search online and never saw those pics🙂

I will do some further searching.

If anyone have done this modification before i'd love to hear about your experiences.

you cant really just remove them like the trim on the fenders. it will take a lot of work. its a body seem and the trim covers it up

the upper portion of the cab only requires grinding off clip studs, the rest involves cutting a portion at a time & welding /adding metal. Google images terms like 5th gen elcamino bed trim delete, etc.The video titled jeff's elco is a good finished example.

An alternative that keeps the factory lines is to remove the trim, rough up the contact area of it , & get bare metal where it contacts the body, then glue on with 3-m # 8115 automix panel adhesive, then fill & sand with body filler.
