Well I have been working on the body of the 80 malibu mostly. When I purchased it the motor, 229, was not running. Got it running. Actually runs good. Trans fluid was very low. Added fluid til full like normal. Turbo 350. Drove around some. Shifts good. Now, while doing body, I noticed puddle of pink trans fluid under car. Can't really tell where it's coming from but haven't been under car a whole lot only to look at bottom and put 2 missing torque converter bolts in. Only been cranking and moving car in and out of shop. I think the radiator is leaking water into trans cooler. And now it's in trans. Opinions? Advice? May pull and rebuild it anyway which is not a problem when finished with body. Just don't want to ruin it just moving around shop. Thanks

check the transmission dip stick, if the color matches, then i your right about the trans cooler leaking.

If you are getting coolant in the trans the color will probably be pink and not red like trans fluid. Since the glue that holds the clutch facings on are water soluble it is usually the kiss of death

That's what I figured. Knew the clutch facings would be messed up. Wonder if it would be ok just to move in and out of shop long enough for me to get some of the other stuff done to body? Will just rebuild it when I get to the mechanical stuff anyway as I have a free 305 I am going to install. And put in new radiator. (Pop won't let me do any grinding, welding etc in shop where his 66 ss is at).
