Hello,
After reading quite a few, I decided to step up and start my own build thread. When I bought my grand national, and then my brother a 84 hurst, I thought I was done. A year later, my nephew chose a 86 442 as his first car. Immediately, they started picking on me about my old man's v6 powered Buick. Yeah, I know...
So, the idea of Pirate Bob (who has a cutlass) was born. I was determined to build he strangest cutlass I could. Now that I have my parts, I am ready to start. Attached are a few pictures.
Current plans are to include luxurious features like a seat, a drivers side door, a hood and maybe trunk lid. Carpet is a distant upgrade.
For my base, I selected a 1983 Hurst olds with a non running 307, and no paperwork. To make sure this is an oddball, I'm converting a w40 car into a run of the mill cutlass. Yes, I'm keeping the w40 tag on the car. I have the header badge, and the clock center emblem. I really wanted the grinding innacurate clock. That was one of my major purchases and must haves.
Next up, I bought an entire running and moving 1986 salon, just because it had the fiber optic turn indicators. The plan is to strip the car for that op ion, and resell/part out the rest.
I found a 87 cutlass without a drivetrains, but someone did a pretty reasonable job meshing a Monte Carlo ss rear spoiler onto the trunk lid, so I figure, why not!
I have a second 86 salon with a gray t top interior I plan on using.
I haven't decided on the drive train yet. Right now, I am leaning towards a hot air turbo v6.
Wheel choice is up in the air right now as well.
About the only thing I haven't figured out how to work in yet, is a wagon tailgate...
Thanks!
