i am going to be reassembling my engine for my regal soon and i am not sure what rings to use. i think on my last engine i used... cast rings because no place in town had 30 over rings at the time and i was in a hurry to get the engine done. i am not sure that they were the best choice. the pistons i am looking at come with "quick seating Perfect Circle rings " which if i remember right would be a cast ring.... is this what i want to use? i am building a car that will not be being beat on "all the time" and i doubt i will ever race it or anything like that. it is being built to go fast though, if that makes any sense lol. i guess i need someone to point me in the right direction. thanks!

i prefer plasma-moly rings for their sealing and longevity. but you do need to make sure you get the right ones. talk to the piston and ring manufacturers.

but when using these rings you have to make sure your bores are straight otherwise you might as well used stock iron rings... cause you wont get a good seal.. Taper and Moly rings is a no no!! Std iron rings are far more forgiving

i look at it this way, you don't want taper anyway. and you pretty much eliminate blow-by. yes, you have to spend the money for a torque plate when boring but you get better sealing, less wear, (slightly) higher compression, longer life, and better power. not that you HAVE to use them, i just recommend them.
they also seat pretty quick, so it's possible that's what came with the pistons. i'd call your supplier and find out exactly what they are.

like previously said plasma moly ...seals almost instantly ,lasts for 100,000miles

plasma moly rings cost almost as much as the pistons i am buying! not saying they are not super nice but thats allot! so moly rings are not good to use? what about these "quick seating" perfect circle rings that come with the pistons?? are they acceptable? i am assuming they are iron rings.....

what kind of pistons and what compression?
