i recently put in new plugs and noone had plugs for 307 so i got 305 set plugs does it make much difference?

It might. I can't say I know personally but you can call a parts store and have them check part numbers to see if they match up. Otherwise take the two you have and compare them, real closely. Make sure where they seat is the same length to the bottom of the plug on the thread side. If not you could run into some messy clearance problems. And obviously, thread size. Temp ect.... I would say call and match up #'s to be safe.

welll what was in there was crappy bosch plugs so i dontknow howi would have seen difference since the bosch are different style, oh well maybe i'll find some for 307 one day

call someplace and see if they (305 and 307) use the same plugs

Yes, they are different. The parts store you bought them from should've been able to tell you that. You shouldn't have bought the wrong plugs.

The 305 (Chevy) plugs you bought are shorter than a 307 (Olds) plug, and will sit further up in the top of the combustion chamber than it is supposed to.

It'll work, but it's not correct.

Go buy the right plugs for your motor.

You might want to try a different parts store. You shouldn't have any problems finding plugs for a 307=not rare at all. And because they sold you the wrong ones in the first place would make me second think about going there again. Just my opinion.

x2!

if you go to summitracing.com you can do a search for the plugs, then go to the store and see if they have the same ones. if it's not a high performance engine you don't need to go with platinum. regular stock level plugs will be fine. however if you do have a problem with the plugs fouling i'd go with cheap level NGK platinums. (and check your carb tuning)
except for a few "race" engine (like the zl1 427) gm never made a rare engine. and NONE of the went in a g-body. you may need to just go with a 5.0l olds motor instead of a 307 since no one understands cubic inches anymore. (i've had a couple of ricers tell me they had a larger engine 'cause i only had a 383. you should have seen their faces when i explained that it's a 6.3l!)
