plz help SS drive shaft 700r4

hello. im building my 88monte SS I put a 358 in it took out the 200r4 and put in the 700r4 I need to cut the drive shaft but I don't know how much. im sure there is some one that has done this. I heard it was 3" but I want to be sure. any help would be appreciated

I believe you willneed a new trans yoke. The 700-R4 uses the same one as a TH400 which i think is a 31 or 32 spline[ someone correct me if i am wrong please] where the 200-4r is a 27 spline, same a a TH350. I am not certain, but 3" off the driveshaft sounds right.

i swaped a 200r4 out to a 700r4 in my ss,the yoke will work.
i took my shaft to a local drive line shop with the measurements...
after the trans is installed measure from the seal on the trans to the pinion where the u joint sits that way he can cut the shaft and give you the proper slip.......jesse
