Hey does anyone know a good way to get the shine back on the trim around a Monte carlo? The trim, especially under the doors doesnt shine anymore 🙁 Does anyone know a good product to use? Thanks!

Mothers Aluminum Wheel Polish for anything aluminum, its like magic.

Word of wisdom though, dont use a drill and expect to see any significant results. You need to get like a large electric dremel or maybe a die grinder with a wool cutting pad that gets some rpm to it to see any kind of polishing result. The ideal scenario is using a bench grinder with a buffing wheel.

It takes alot of patience and hard work to do this. I restored metal for 5yrs. If it has a clear coat over it you will need to use air craft stripper to get it off. Once thats off you will need the bench grinder with a big wool buffer pad. You will need the different buffing compound. Take your time and go from the coarsest to the finest compunds and it will shine like new. Then you can either reseal with a clear lacquer or keep it raw. If you keep it raw make sure to buff it a few times a year. Hope this helps.

So there is no way i can do this with the trim on the car? 😛

Theres a product out called a FLITZ wheel and it works pretty good on aluminum. Works with a regular drill. Need to mask off the painted areas near the trim so you dont mess that up.

Okay ill see if i can find any of that ! 🙂

Ok so i just picked up this Mothers Mag & aluminium Polish. Anyone know if this is good?

It works great on bare aluminum.
But again, the aluminum and stainless trim on g-bodies is covered in an anodized coating.
Unless you strip the anodizing, you can polish it all day and all you'll get is tired arms and fingers...

I'm going to try to redo my trim someday hoping to try this stuff and see if it works on the anodized aluminum still wondering about the stainless steel though.. Once polished i want to clear coat them... here is a link to the anodize remover http://www.eastwood.com/ew-anodize-remover-qt.html
