while doing a search for brake line i came across this: http://www.agscompany.com/faq/10

for a 25 ft roll its only 22 bucks at autozone and if it really is 30 times more corrosion resistant than galvanized steel then it's a much cheaper alternative to stainless lines. they have them in 3/16" 1/4" 5/16" and 3/8" sizes.

something to think about before buying a stainless steel set for 180 bucks. you could easily redo all your lines for a lot less with this stuff.

i also noticed i have a little rust on some spots on the bottom of my car but the frame is still solid with little to no rust on it. i need to do a frame off but i have no place to do it. :blam: and the fuel lines near the tank look like crap too. more hard line to replace later. :blam: :blam:

i replaced all of the brake lines in my 96 Tahoe with the poly armor lines. i didn't use the spool though i just got around 5 or 6 straight pieces with a few adapters and just bent them by hand. if i have to replace the ones in the Monte i am going to use the same type

don't know that it's 30x better, and the lines can still corrode from the inside-out, but IIRC it's just slightly more money than the equivalent length of regular tubing so why not?

In some cases it's a few cents cheaper than plain steel and easier to bend. However it's not perfect and the coating can be scratched off. I use it whenever i'm replacing any former lines.

i might go with stainless steel, it's 40 bucks for 20 feet, not a bad price really. the coating on the poly armor lines concerns me since there's a hole in the frame where the hard line meets up with the hose going to the rear and i think it was the cause of the major corrosion. i'm afraid the coating will get blasted off by stuff coming off the road while i drive and i really only want to mess with replacing this line once, not twice. it's an extra 18 bucks over the poly armor but i think its money well spent.

i love ordering from summit, i feel like a kid in a candy store.

So you know, flaring SS sucks! If you dont get it perfect it will leak. Your best bet is to use a hydraulic flaring kit.
and IIRC, you need to go slow to prevent it from cracking.
