Well, here's what I've been up to the past week or so...
Been swapping some motors around with my buddy trying to get his '70 Skylark that we went and got in AZ last month up and running.

First, we pulled the Pontiac 455 out of his old project, the '70 Tempest.
It's for sale for cheap if somebody loves bodywork more than me...

Then, we had to tackle removing the Buick's 350...

Then we gutted the piss smelling interior... thanks rats...
Couldn't ask for nicer sheet metal.

Workin' in the shade sure is nice...

Here it is with the "new" motor in place.
Grind on the kick-*ss heater box patch we made with aluminum tape and Jeg's stickers. Better than the nothing that was there...

Custom grille made of expanded metal is growing on us more and more.

We're considering marketing our custom valve covers that we made...

Still have more stuff to hook up, but it's getting closer...

I may be biased but that Pontiac Tempest looks like it's in better shape than the Buick! I hate to see a perfectly running Pontiac dissected and sacrificed for a car of another make!@!@#!&%

Don't worry, the pictures make it look nicer than it is... And it was far from a perfectly running car.
The Tempest needs WAY too much work, i.e... 1/4's, wheelhouses, trunk floor, fenders, hood, bottom of rear glass etc. Tons of bondo and rust. It's a serious piece of sh*t. It's cool that it's a post car, but not enough to justify the probably 200+ hours of metal and body work it would require to fix it. I'll let some other sucker do that.
This is coming from a guy that does restoration for a living. One thing I've learned over the years is when a car isn't worth it...
I love classics, but didn't shed a single tear while I defiled this car for parts.
The body of the Buick is perfect, and is a much better candidate for restoration.

The Pontiac motor is only temporary, since we know it runs. The Buick had been sitting for about 9 years, so we just swapping in the running motor to tide him over until he saves up for a nice Buick 455 to do it right, and then I'll paint it.

I would buy valve covers like that!!

Right on! I hear ya! good luck, looks like a fun project!

So... when does the Buick 350 go in the wagon?

Once I have money to go through it... So it might be a while
I'll keep driving it till the 3.8 gives up.

You guys will be proud to hear that I've talked him into either a '78-'80 Grand Prix or '78-'83 Pontiac wagon as the new home for the 455 once we pull it back out to replace it with the appropriate Buick power... 😀

Just a thought for you b*tches. The 350 Buick is a Y block actually the Buick turbo 3.8 is a Buick 350 with two cylinders lopped off. If you run across a used supercharger in raceingjunk.com or someplace she will take a lot of boost. There was a guy who did a write up on v8buick.com about 2 years ago where he made 1,000 HP with big ol nasty vortex type supercharger with serious ported heads and a reinforced but stock block. I like big motors for fast real street cars but the lil 350 is a great torquey lil motor.
