Does anyone have a 78-79 monte carlo with a 454 stuffed in it? if so can i see some photos. I really want to move forward with the vision Ive got. ive go a 350 in my MC looking to build a motor thats worth it in the end!
Both very cool cars! Guy that water truck looks like a beast. 5,000 gallon? Both cars set up as drivers which I dig. Either of you make a quarter mile pass? I know traction would be bad but I am more interested in the mph.
Those water trucks hold around 21,000 litres,or app 5500 US gallons.I love those tri-drive lifted trucks, people tend to move over when they see one of those coming down the road
I have gone down the track a couple of times, but my inexperience didnt help any.My best was a 12.9 @ 112 mph,and it spun through 1st,2nd,3rd and hooked up in 4th just before I went through the lights.
As you said,its a driver,not a dedicated race car.
Guy
well mine is still in progress, i have alot of wiring i need to do and remove the ac box on the firewall. later on im going to put in a small unit from vintage air or someone like that.
So no 1/4 mile pass yet, but as an estimate with the cars weight, drivetrain power, and suspension mods ive done to it, id take a safe estimate at mid 10's one if i decide to hook up the nitrous i'd guess mid 9's.
and i do not consider my car a race car, it is a fast street car and can take a corner at speed, not like the majority of big block g-body cars i see that remove the power steering and power brakes and run stock suspension parts. if youre going to a big block i would recommend upgrading everything from suspension, brakes, cooling all of it.
78 monte weight 3200 lbs
dynoed 625hp/610 tq w/o nos
150hp shot of nitrous
th-350 3000-3500 stall
8.5 posi rear 3.42 gears
275/40-17 nittos drag radials
too many to count suspension and brake system mods.
people seem to forget that the 78-80 monte carlo's weighed less than the other years and other sister cars
