As im sure most people who have a gbody of some kind and have the power antenna option have experienced the scenario of it not working. I replaced mine a few years ago with a NOS one, when mine stopped working (due im sure, to the cord breaking inside it ) Well....................it think it happened again, My question and dilemma is. does first off anybody have a working one for sale? if so, how much? and where you located? Secondly, due to it being very, very difficult to remove and replace without some sort of issues, has anybody done away with this option (power antenna) and gone to just a standard antenna? if so, what did it come off of and does anybody have one of those for sale also? Any info, greatly appreicated! Im not really wanting to continue to deal with this issue as a problem that will likely in time, happen again. thoughts? thanks in advance.

Id like to find a fixed antenna with lead and beable to hook it up and eliminate the power antenna option, if you have one please PM me. price and location. pics also please. Thanks

Used or NOS, it doesn't matter... the nylon cable dries out over and snaps due to age.
Buying an NOS one to fix the issue is just throwing your money away if you are not restoring a car or your motor still works.
You need to buy a new nylon repair cable or mast with cable and open up the antenna regardless of it being NOS or used.
Even the older NOS masts are junk, look for one with a date code of 2000 and newer or an NOS power antenna that has a date tag on the mast of 2000 and newer otherwise you'll be opening it up to change the cable.

is there anything I should look out for when replacing the nylon cord, if you've never done it before? Or, is it fairly straight forward, drill out the rivets, replace cord and or mast/cord and reassemble. Any advice on how to know where to buy the cord from, so as to not end up with a NEW cord that's old and brittle due to age and will break soon anyways? Thanks in advance!

anybody?

It's simple ingenuity replacing it.
Look for a newer AC Delco part, most replacement cables are newer, there's even aftermarkets available.
Google it...

would there be any reason to need to buy the whole mast with nylon cord, vs. just the nylon cord..............my power antenna was NOS when I bought it, so the nylon cord is all I should need right?

I believe the cord only comes with the mast. IIRC the antenna has to come out of the fender to repair, I know I did when mine was broke. I am sure you can you-tube it.

Per my pervious message...
