In my 1987 Pontiac Grand Prix, I have a sensor that kicks off the ac clutch when the steering wheel is at full turn. Well the small brass junction is leaking, due to cross threading. I cannot find the part in a local part store, and can't find anything about it online. Maybe I am referring to it incorrectly. Or they don't make that part at all. Any help would be great. I am currently muscling the wheel around without power steering.
 
i found it on rockauto.com as a power steering pressure sensor. they are available, $23. local parts stores should have it in the computer. some places may call it a switch.
 
I have the sensor, that is still in perfect shape, but the "T" fitting is what I need. It accepts two inverted o ring fittings on the high pressure side of the steering pump. The tee is made of brass, I might need to find a local machine shop to make it, since it is on the high pressure side. Anyone else seen this fitting I talk of... I will try to get a pic in the afternoon.
 
sorry, i misunderstood. i see its a seperate piece, not part of the pres hose. and i believe the p/s pressure hoses that join that "T" use o-ring fittings to seal to it, not flare fittings. from looking at the sensor on rock auto, like you said, the sensor has two o-rings at the base of the thread. the thread looks like it is straight, not flared like a pipe thread. if it is a straight thread, you may be able to match the thread with a tap and clean up the threads in the "T". i have successfully done with brake fittings and blocks. but it is going to be tough, due to the length of thread being as short as it is. i suspect the thread is metric but i don't know the pitch. if you do match it to a tap, try using a bottoming or blind hole tap, they have less taper to them and are meant to cut a square thread to the bottom of the hole.

or you need to find a replacement "T", junk yard, or fellow member may have one.

I believe I have one. I dismantled an '87 El Camino and a kept the hose. I'll check tomorrow if you want it.

Well if you have one, just laying around, I would be interested. It would beat having to go to the machine shop and explaining what I need made. Is this sensor "tee" an odd option to have, or do more people just do away with that sensor all together?

The cars that came with A/C have them, it is a 'power steering idle speed switch', the switch/ sensor threads into the 'T'. When you turn the wheels hard to one side or the other, the computer sees a drop in RPMs and idle the engine up to prevent stalling. I'll check to make sure I have it and post around this time.
 
Thanks. Awesome that will tie all the parts together. All new power steering parts, but this thing is what is keeping me from putting oil in it and letting my forearms rest...
