I have an 83 monte carlo ss and I've owned it for about 5 years now.Since owning it I've been through 3 pumps and about 5 sets of hours. The pumps I get are brand new and through a chevy dealership.Does anyone know of a aftermarket pump that's better then the stock original?

I would bet there is something else in the system that is bad. Something is putting crud into your new pumps, over pressuring it, something not aligned, etc. I can't imagine THAT many pumps going bad on their own accord.

Ya its weird they only last about a year then they start to leak and the hoses tend to crack.I was thinking maybe cause I live in vegas and with it getting hotter then hell it was just dry rotting them. This is why I was thinking maybe some sort of aftermarket unit would be better.

It might be the heat, 110 degrees is hard on just about everything.

But FWIW I'm in Phoenix, got mine out of an old truck in the junkyard about a year and a half ago, and it's still going strong.

That could be, but we normally have ten 100 degree plus days a year here in Oklahoma and out of ALL of my G-body's, I have only lost 1 pump and upon replacing, worked fine until I scrapped it 200,000 miles later.
