i bought a pair of new rust free doors for my cutlass even though i said i wasnt going to replace every body panel on this car like i did the regal, guess i was wrong. problem is the old doors are manual and the new ones are power, did gm run the wiring for the power windows on the stock harness or was that something they added only if the option was included? i am thinking about pulling factory wiring from another car if i need to but i am pretty sure that requires pulling the dash out of the donar car. does anyone have any other suggetions?? can i wire this without all of the factory stuff? i am also thinking about putting the window controls on the lower door panel by where the power lock button would be, maybe using some newer buttons froma newer car?? do newer cars use relays since the wiring is like 18 gauge? thanks for any help!

There are 3 harnesses used to wire the factory power windows. There are 2 door harnesses, and a dash harness. To change or add the dash harness, you will need to remove the dash of the donor car and part of the ventilation box. The door harnesses plug into the chassis part of the harness at the door post, and the dust boots have the door harness taped to them from the factory. The power locks are also set up in a similar fashion, but they are not taped to the boot. It is important to get the proper chassis harness for it as you can use a lock and window harness with just the windows, but can't use a pure window harness with power locks as well. I found this out because I swapped both my doors as well. My car was power windows but not power locks. My doors had both. Oh, and the harness plugs in to the fuse panel. However, you will need a circuit breaker that bridges the harness and the fuse panel. You will see how it works when you pull it apart.

i have the harnesses for the doors already, i wasnt sure if the factory had the wiring up to the door or not. i also already have the boots and screws ready to go.

You just need the dash harness from the donor car then.

problem solved, pulled a harness haness from a regal after work today, i dont think i could have wired it myself if i wantedto, there was allot of wire to it.

Did you get the relays from the passenger's kick panel too? I forgot about them until now.

make a offer. i got all of it coming out of the old doors, they are not in great shape so they are getting scrapped. windows work perfect
