It's extremely easy. I don't know how to describe specific details but the dash is held in and together by mostly 7mm and 10mm hex head bolts with nuts holding the steering column in place. Many of them are screwed in from the bottom of most panels to easily be hidden so start from the bottom and work your way up. There are a few along the top to hold it in up there. Overall it's an easy process. Just get out there and look for them.

I know the panel around the gauge cluster has at least four across the top lip of the dash and the bottom is held in by screws under the panel that goes over the bottom of the steering column. Start there and also remove the glove box which the screws are located along the bottom of the dash.

Ive pulled monte dashes and Cutlass dashes, but never a GP dash.
I saw the 2 at the top vent, and Im sure the dash is held around the column somehow, its just the "hidden" screws im worried about. I asumme theres the 3 at the bottom of the dash (1 at each side and 1 in the middle, usually grounds), is there any screws behind/under anything that I have remove first? Do I have to remove any of the wood gauge/dash trim? -Thanks

There's one or two bolts under the speaker cover by the windshield too.

Also its a good idea to disconnect speedo cable from below(transmission) and get some slack on cable by pullin up toward you.this extra slack will be valuable when removing instrument cluster.

I was hoping to pull it out as one complete unit, cluster/trim/ect.. Its coming out of a junk car so I can just cut anything thats holding it in (cables/wires/..)

If you can cut everything you can get it out in like 20 mins. Its pretty easy unless you get stripped bolts up by the windshield like I did :x It took me about 2 hours total to get my monte dash out and the GP dash in without cutting anything. Just go slow and dont flex it too much.

Been there, done that! Ive had that happen a few times.
A trick I learned was to gentally pull the dash out while unscrewing the screw at the same time, that usually helps the screw back out.

G-boz,
Here are the applicable pages from the 1982 Factory Service Manual.

This version does not show the Vehicle Speed Sensor that is mounted to the speedometer on newer cars. That little VSS connector is a PITA to remove. The easiest way I've found is to disconnect the speedometer cable at the trans (non-cruise control) or at the cruise control transducer so you can pull the speedometer unit out far enough to get at the connector. It is attached to the back of the speedometer with a 7mm screw.

Also, console equipped cars use the two screws shown in the diagrams as ash tray mounting screws as the anchor point for the front mounting bracket. I don't know if you can get the IP out of the car without removing the entire console, but you will at least have to remove those two front screws and the console harness connector.
