Hi, I'm new here and I was wondering how Much h.p. you would have to have to pull the front tires off the ground?
I have a 84 cutlass with a 400 sbc, my brother inlaw has an 86 with a 350 rocket we just put in and it pulling the left front tire about 4-5 inches off the ground, I was wondering at what horse power do the g-bodys start too pull the tires

There are soo many factors to this answer im not even gona start. Gettin tires to grab and weight distribution are just as important as power

Yeah, its full interior car. With a nice set of soft slicks on the back, 7.5 rearend still but put drag bags on it, it pulls really good. He also put 3500 stall in it to

Factors like how fat the driver is ..... Dont think I ever have to worry about being in a car with fronts not touching

If the car is pulling the left front off the ground it means that the body from the back axle forward is flexing or twisting. If you build enough power and make it hook that will happen. The difference is that if the car is not setup to handle the strain it won't be long before something breaks.

Not necessarily true. I can simply unhook one link on my anti-roll bar and make my left frt (and only the left front) come up and my car has a full 10 point cage in it all tied to the frame.

Take an L/stock Olds G body with a 320 horsepower 307 for example. Running on a 12.70 index. These cars may leave with the front wheels 2 feet in the air but hardly have enough top end charge to break 100 mph in the 1/4. There are way too many factors in just pulling the front wheels off the ground.
If that's all you want to do.... just take the front shocks off and bounce the front end about twice and there you'll have it....LOL

What set up do you have? how fast does it run in the 1/4 mile? what engine you have in there?
