I need to put on a ac compressor and could use a little help. I know how to put it on but the notes on the ac compressor says that i have to use a spanner wrench to rotate it because it can not be rotated by hand. I know to put pag p-150 oil and R-134A freon but thats it.

If you don't have the belt on it you can just grab it and rotate it. Make sure you are actually rotating the center part and not just the clutch portion. Make sure you rotate it in the correct direction.

Is there a small 1/2" square hole on the mounting plate? If so, that is there to use a 1/2" breaker bar to adjust the belt tension. If not, a suitable pry bar can be used on a solid area (NOT the compressor itself) to adjust the belt.

Not to jack the thread, but I have a '79 chevy 350 without ac and with power steering. My cutlass originally had a/c but the truck I took the engine from doesn't. I want to keep the a/c and wouldn't care if I had to buy a new or remanned compressor. I just don't know where to buy the a/c compressor brackets other than buying a whole serpentine setup wich I don't want to do. II just want the bracket. Anyone know where I could buy them. I've checked ebay, and the local yards don't have much. Thanks

The service manual for my car says to put a bolt through one of the spare holes in the compressor and use the protuding bolt to pry against. It works pretty well.
