alright so when i am switching my 3.8 v6 to sbo i was expecting the 8 or 10 pin connecter (whatever number it is that has two halves and one half goes to the engine, starter, alternator and various engine components and it is located on the drivers side under the wiper motor) i expected that they were the same on both engines and i had overlooked it but they are different and the pins themselves are flipped 90 degrees so theres no way it would physically even fit. My question is, can i follow the wires on my v6 connector and decide whether they are going to the starter etc and mark them. then follow the wires on my v8 and then wire them in to the v6 connector corresponding to where the wires had gone on my v6. will this work?

bump for imput/ if this solution would work

Just extend or shorten the wires as needed. When I did my V6 to V8 swap I reused the existing wires. All electrical components work the same whether V6 or V8 as far as getting power and such. Starters wire the same as do the altenator. As long as the distributor has 12 volts, it will work. The sender for the temp gauge/light will be the same, just make sure it matches whether you have the light or gauge.

No need to swap the engine compartment harness.

just do it slowly! one wire at a time and test and retest.

alright thanks a lot for the imput i just wanted to be sure i could do this without running into any odd issues
