i have approx. 450-500 hp at the crank and a richmond 5 speed in my 81 el camino. can i get 3:73 gears with limited slip or lockout for my 10 bolt peg-leg or do i need a rearend swap? thank you very much.

You can get either one for your car, but with that kind of horsepower, I would look into swapping for a stronger rear end like a 12 bolt. The 7.5 inch 10 bolt in your car is just not strong enough for that kind of power...

Yeah i was affraid of that. Thanks for confirmation.

I second the stronger rear end comments. A manual trans, with that engine, will shred a 7.5 10 bolt the first time you hook up. Plus, 3.73's would have too little tooth engagement from the pinion gear to the ring gear.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO WAY  Not for long...
