Question about sway bar fitment

Ok. Here's what we have. 87 cutlass. GN 8.5 rear. Monte SS sway bar. My question is how close should the sway at be to the pumpkin? Right now with everything bolted in, I have about 3/16" between the pumpkin and the sway bar at the center. Is this ok or do I need a bar that came out of a g body that came with an 8.5 from the factory. Thought gbody internals were the same but, maybe I'm wrong. Thanks in advance!

You should be good. The bars are the same on g bodies at least from my experience. My F body bar is probably only a few thousandths away from the Moser cover :lol:

I just check my 8.5 rear from a Hurst Olds with the Hurst Olds rear bar. The clearance between the bar and the pumpkin is about 5/16 inch at best. I hope this helps.

Thanks guys! Once she was back on all fours it looked right. Just didn't look right on the jack stands.
