Has anyone else used curing lamps? I've thought about giving one of the 1500W versions a shot on some larger parts (transmission case for instance). I've read a few reviews on Caswells and other forums and I can't say that I'm sold on the idea yet. Seems like it's an inefficient way to go about it to be honest.

No problem with the small stuff. Craigslist is an excellent source for a cheap electric oven too.
It's just the bigger parts that I'm thinking about.

If you use a heating lamp....it will NOT bake all the areas evenly. Unless you continuously move the light to all the areas. But dont leave it in any area to long or you will burn or cause the powder to run. Yes Powdercoating can run! If you don't bake everything evenly you can have a failure in the powder shortly after you install it. Hope that helps ya.

Sorry to get off-topic G-body_Vet

I've been looking to blast and possibly powder coat my frame. I had totally forgotten you were in my area. I looked at that site and it looks like you do mostly smaller parts. I'd be interested in what kind of pricing you'd offer for blasting and possibly coating a frame. If you don't offer that kind of work, do you know of any good places around here that can? Thanks for any advice you can give me.

No problem at all. All I do is smaller stuff that can fit in a blast cabinet. Anything bigger would require more space and expensive equipment that I can't justify buying.

This place near Joliet does frames. According to their ad they blast and coat frames for $300. Their prices look decent but I can't vouch for their work since I've never seen it personally.
