whats up im just about thru doing my 305 engine swap i got everything back together but the transmission gear cable and the 4 pin transmission plug. After installing the starter this weekend I tried to turn the engine over but it would not engage the starter. I made sure the steering column gear shaft was at park...i made sure the transmission lever on the transmission was all the way at the top. Can someone tell me if the 4 pin transmission plug has anything to do with the starter engaging????

Does this plug tell the starter when the car is in neutral or park?-

Also where can i get the 4 pin plug....i looked at my plug its broken I only have 2 pins and the other 2 empty plastic pins broke off

That's the torque converter lockup electrical connection. Has nothing to do with the starter.
