can i just put a used set of rally gauges in my friends cutlass that has the grandma gauges in it ? is there anything that needs to be ran for the tack ?

you need to run a tac line from the distributor in order for the tach to work. Also need the change the oil sending unit and i believe there was one other thing. You also have to switch several of the wire locations in the plug that goes into the back of the gauges. i never could get mine working properly at all so my granny gauges are back in. but im hoping this thread will help me as well
I just swapped both the dash and engine harnesses to ones from cars with the gauge package. I used a 305 GP harness for the engine ( 1985 model) and a 1985 Cutlass harness for the dash. I had to add a few wires to the engine bay harness for gauges that were not on the GP ( water temp and tach), but other than that it was straight forward. It seems GM used the same pinouts for all G bodies regardless of model, but may be year specific.
