I Bought my 1981 Buick Regal LTD from an older woman in 1997 it was late April I think. The lady just moved from Virginia and her daughter wanted her get a newer car. Being around 17-18 than I put the title in my mothers name, we both agreed that was best. The title was correct to the vin no problems and in my mothers name as the years go by my mom was like go the currency exchange title in your name. So in 2001 I think it was I did I also had 95 Ford Aspire I titled and plated both same place and day at the currency exhachge Cook County of course. I was south Chicagoland than. Years go by i have 7 kids, car sits im never ever going to sell it my first car I really care about it. I was going to title and plate here in Northwest here they do vin check I never looked at My title from the Regal upon looking it I seen it vin started with a K. I knew this wasn't right so I did vin decoder and the vin on my title is the 95 aspire. I guess the woman was doing both forms at one time, she mixed up the vins. Anyone that been to currency exchange see how this possible there workers lol but still why wouldn't the state pick up the mistake. I never looked because I knew was legit in 1997, moving from my moms to me I filed it away. Here Indiana they do vin check so I have to get this in order. I know car fax does 81 and up right? Any advice my mom could help to she the previous owner I want do the right way and the cheapest possible. I've got to working on it again all these years and can't drive it. I've done so much work on this car it has more memories in it than one can think of. My best friends that are dead used to ride with me in it. I met my wife and gave her our first kiss in it. We know have 7 kids lol but this car been put aside to long time for it come back and legal. Any advice be great.
