I have a 1986 Regal chassis under my 53 Chevy 210 with a 231 3.8L V6 and TH200 transmission. The question I have is when I bought the car it seemed the drive shaft wasnt pushed all the way in the tailshaft of the transmission but still drove. Well today I unbolted the rear from the the driveshaft and pushed it as far as it would go into the tailshaft of the transmission and now it appears the driveshaft is to short because it wont reach the rear axle to bolt up. What is the correct lenght of the driveshaft on this car? Do I need to get a longer one or push the rear end more forward. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :?:

your shaft is fine it shoult have a inch or more of free travel when you accelrate it will go in farther as your rear end tourks up you dont want it in all the way it will break something hope this helps
