Although its hard to say Happy Veterans , Armstice, or Remembrance Day. I am eternally grateful to them all. From the great wars right until present day they have all sacrificed so much.

It was neat today at our local Remembrance Day Event in Brampton when three WW1 BiPlanes did a flyover to mark the occasion.
I imagine it was to honor the fallen on the 100th anniversary of Passchendaele in Belgium as in the 10 + years I have been here I have never been present to a flyover here.

Looks like they came out of the local Air museum

This is a very somber Veterans Day for myself.

Those that read my intro about this time last year I told a little about my car and situation and you found out I had quit working 5 years ago to be my Dad’s caregiver. In May he had a bad case of pneumonia and had to be in hospice because it caused some heart damage. He was a tough soul and passed away in early October at 95. He was still active and in pretty good shape up until his illness. So yes I am still sad about it, but all of us should be so lucky to be productive and active into our 90’s! He was very blessed.

My Dad served in WW II from 1942 until late 1945 in the Navy. He was an electrician on ship and had a few instances of kamikaze attacks on that ship late in the war. He was never hurt but lost a few close friends on his ship from those attacks. He had some interesting stories that he never forgot about even after 70 years had passed.

It was a tough period for him the last few months but we had plenty of help from the in home hospice folks. It was tough for me too being his only family caregiver which is a whole other story! The only blessing was his last few days were peaceful.

If anyone would like to help any fallen Veteran you can donate to Wreaths Across America where on December 16th wreaths are placed on all the graves of Veterans for the Holiday Season. I believe it costs $15 if anyone would like to donate to a local cemetery. My Dad’s ashes were placed in an AZ Veterans Cemetery location and looking around and reading about many placed there is a very powerful experience. I already bought my wreath and plan to help out that day placing others where family could not make it.

I was debating making my own thread about this but I am a very private person, still dealing with my new normal as they say, but something like these wreaths are just a small gesture of thanks to those that gave their lives so we can enjoy our G bodies. Except when they break down and cause us ulcers!

Thanks for reading and my thanks to all who are serving and had served to protect our freedoms,

That's really sad brotha. Thank you for his service. Condolences from one sailor to another!

My ex BIL was a peace keeper, a very scary roll. I had two uncles serve in WW2. Frank Rae from 1939-45 and Les Rae from 1942-45. Frank was no doubt part of the Western seige on Italy and well as South Africa and Belgium I believe. He told my Dad that he was only man who survived in his batallion and of the headless soldier running by. Les was a Motorcycle man and I know served in Germany. Lest We Forget is on his grave stone.
