Hello,

When I got my 83 Ninety Eight Regency detailed my passenger mirror is now floating in the housing. Its not a power mirror just one on a cableing system. When I move the cable from inside the mirror moves erratically and when I drive the wind blows it all over the place. It seems pretty delicate inside the mirror housing, any suggestions on how to take it apart and reattach it to the cable system?

Thanks,
Steven

There are 3 small diameter "bowden" cables that control the mirror head.

To access the cable head connection, you have to remove the mirror housing from the mirror base. IIRC, there is a single screw that attaches the head to the base. Removing that screw allows you to separate the mirror head and you should be able to see if any of the 3 cables have been dislodged from the control head. Hopefully, you will find that one of the cables is just dis-engaged and the control head is not damaged.

If that is the case, re-install the cable in the correct slot in the control head and re-assemble the mirror head to the pedestal.

If the cable or the head are damaged, you will probably need to replace the mirror.
