Like it says. Im going to start restoring my dads 78 Grand Prix that he bought in high school in the spring and im looking for some ideas on where to go with it. We both share the same taste in cars so it shouldnt be too difficult. What im asking for is some pictures of this car done a few different ways. Maybe a few with the street/strip look, a donk or two, and something on air ride would be nice since thats my style. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

LED LIGHTS!!!! 😀

well you can buy kits for the tail lights to make them sequential or you can get some for the signals or even the dome light. then ya never have to worry about having to replace them for a VERY long time and there really bright. i think there are ome ppl on here who can point you in the right direction to get what hes talking about.

another thing you can do is modernis yer car with a modern drivetrain and suspention and wheels. theres litterally a bagillion thing you can do, it just up to yer imagination and yer budget. oh and have fun! 😀

Well ive been into the minitrucker scene since I was about 15 and I've built 2 bagged S-10's, an all black suburban, Lifted 94 Ram and an 05 Sierra with a 10inch lift and 6.0 from a vette. My current project is an 04 Xtreme Blazer on 20's with an 8400 watt stereo system. Im not new to the custom scene but i've never seen a car like this truly customized. I was hoping to find some pics on here or some1 that could do some renderings possibly. If not I guess I'll just have to build it myself and post up the process.

Is there a specific budget? Because the sky's the limit here. I'd suggest you go pro-touring route... ie. start with restoring (carpet, seats, dash, trim, etc), followed by replacing some of the stock components with newer modern enhancements:

- bag it
- black leather interior
- body & paint - white
- chrome 15" - 18" deepdish wheels with street radials
- custom mild body kit
- custom sound

For sound I see all kinds of systems that go overboard. In my own pro touring project, I have only one component set in each corner of the car, and 2 subwoofers in the trunk (10 speakers total), but they are all high end and high power units (MB Quart components, and RF T2 subs), for clean, full range sound.

This is kind of biased, it's based on my own project (84 Grand Prix) -- it's quite specific but it's the image that's been driving me to get my own car done specifically in this way. It looks a little different than the 78, but would be very similar still.

What kind of shape is the car in now? Will you be keeping the stock drivetrain, or upgrading?

I vote for street/strip/pro touring. Those cars have lots of potential.

Build it the way Pontiac should have.

Pontiac 350/400, 5 speed or OD trans, mild gear in a 8.5 posi out back.

15" ralley rims or better yet, get some 17" snowflakes from Year One.

Install all the f41 stuff with select aftermarket suspension parts, slight lowering.

Outside I would stay stockish, black with red pinstripe to match either the SJ or LJ treatment, maybe even the GT look.

It must have daul tips ala GTO.
