Sorry about all the questions lately. I was just wondering if anyone had ever restored the upper part of their door panels, particularly on a Limited Regal that has the velour, woodgrain, and various chrome strips.

Basically, the interior of the car is in very good shape for a 22-23 year old car, but there a few things that really look ugly. For example, there are a few cigarette burns in the velour from the previous owner, and the thin plastic chrome strips are worn and rippled.

I haven't taken the door panels off (lost my window crank tool), but are you able to disassemble the upper door panels so that the individual pieces can be restored? In particular, I'm concerned with the thin chromed plastic strips. It doesn't look like it will come apart from the front, but then again I've never seen the back of the door panel to know.

Also, is there anyone making reproduction upper door panels yet? I know the lower plastic parts are available, but I don't need those. Any help would be appreciated.

If it's anything like the Grand Prix (and I suspect all G's are made the same) they are not individual pieces that can be separated. They are bonded together. Just try to find decent replacement panels.

I know on the Cutlass Brougham they come apart. I swapped the chrome piece from one to another because it was peeling and scratched. The Regal Limited is the Buick variant of the Cutlass Brougham, so maybe they come apart too.
