I searched threads bit didn't quite find what I needed. Car is 86 cutlass two door. Interior is of no concern. Will only have buckets with no rear seat and will have a vfn 'glass dash. HVAC will be gone. Intend to tie in from in front of front wheels to rear of rear wheels. Prefer to weld directly to frame then weld body to cage. It wont have to be class legal just safe. What diameter, thickness, and material should I use? I saw some answers on material but they were abbreviations I didn't know

I would suggest buying a kit from JEGS, SUMMITT, S&W RACING - google tubing acronyms if you want abbreviations explained.

Just buy a complete package of what you want.

Only issue with that idea is I'm a bit limited on funds and I'm also not 100% on where I want down tubes etc to go. The cage in eBay link looks about right for how I want driver area.

I would plan on buying a tubing notcher and bender if you want everything to fit well since even though they make Gbody roll cage kits they are still a universal kit and have to be fitted to the car.

S&W Chassis offers kits that clear the stock door panels.

10 point is normally where the cage goes through the fire wall to tie to the front frame horns, normally in the area occupied by the window wiper motor.

Please don't take this wrong being an old fart I have found that the biggest problem on projects is time and money and I have found I'm better not starting something till they are both in place. That being said since you have access to a bender you can buy tube and build the whole thing yourself. As 565 said you need a tubing notcher and I would also recommend a Pipemaster Contour Gauge & Pipe Fitting Joint Template. I would still recommend buying a kit. I never did ask what is your plans?? What are you building.
