running lights

the running lights on the back are lighting up when i connect the battery by themselves. what could be going on? its when i connect the starter wire. car is 85 regal
 
Are front running lights getting juice? If so then check the switch. In my '87 ALL the front bulbs were burned out, rears were fine.

If it is just the rears then it is a quirky wiring issue.
