So after 4-5 posts later and some info from a bunch of guys here on this forum i have come to the conclusion that I will keep my 7.5 housing but just swap out the internals and upgrade to disc brakes(which i alrdy was planning to do). What i need to know is what f body posi unit can i use and as for the s10 does it matter on the year of the s10 or can it be any posi from an s10? From bits that i have picked up around the forum, i hear that i can get a posi unit out of a camaro or firebird and use their posi units but because its 28 spline axles i would have to swap them out for GN ones or can i use the same axles off of the car either the camaro or firebird?? My MonteSS has a mild 454 and its gonna be 50/50 street and strip.

No, you can't use the f-body axles. I'm not sure about the gn axles since they would have come out of an 8.5. You can get a 28 spline posi out of a f-body and get the 28 spline moser axles for like $260 and then the gear of choice.

I think 89 and up are 28 spline. And s10 have 26 and 28 but the only way to know for sure is to open it up and count. Search eBay there's tons of stuff for 7.5s.

might be better off trying to source an 8.5 out of a monte ss with a posi unit already in it. but at the end of the day its still 10 bolt. if possible maybe wait and put a 9" ford in or another stronger axle 12 bolt maybe?
