Not sure if this is where to post this, I'm a tool dealer. (Matco). I walked into a shop and saw a rear on the ground Gm for sure with disk brakes. So I asked what kind of rear and it's for a 2000 bravada pretty much same as the S10 blazer. Long story short there going to give me the whole rear bake set up. Backing plate every thing. I heard somewhere that the awd has the caliper face forward and won't work. I don't know why if it's in the wheel. I was wondering if can I make that set up work for my 7.5 diff. Or do I need to mod some brackets and relocate the calipers. Not a big deal. I know a lot of fabricators that like tools. Lol
Any advise would be helpful thanks.
Btw I have a 78 Malibu with a 7.5 diff from a 87 Cutlass 442, if that makes any difference.

if the calliper is facing forward it will hit the frame. the frame can be notched to work, but its easy enough to flip the bracket mount it on the back (parking brake may not work depending on style) and run a shock relocation bracket

Oh ok. Thanks thats good to know. I dont necessarily need the parking brake because its an auto but its always good to have. The rear isnt on the car so I guess Ill test fit it on the old rear and then install it in the new rear before I put it on the car.

I'd just ask for the whole axle unless they will be using it themselves. A little online research shows me a picture with both calipers oriented towards the rear of the axle, so I think you'll be fine, there. You will have to disassemble your axle, take out the C-clips and pull the axle shafts out - have to do this to replace the backing plates. You will need to cut the flanges down - use the backing plates as a template. The key is that you need to leave enough meat so the two new upper bolt holes you need to add below the cut have enough material to completely surround the bolt hole. The two smaller OEM holes on the G-body flanges just need to be enlarged. What you end up with is the trapezoidal four-bolt pattern that was used on most every other GM axle back to the 1950s. Why GM changed the plan for the midsize cars - who knows. I used a hacksaw, but with care you can use a cutoff wheel or a Sawzall, too. I'd definitely replace the wheel seals and maybe the wheel bearings, as these can only be reached when you have the axle apart. If the axle has a limited slip and 3.42 or 3.73 gears, you might ask if you can have those too. The 7-5/8 differential and ring and pinion will work in a 7.5" axle.

Thanks ssn696 That's some good info. I wished I had paid more attention to were the calipers are. Running a google search I've seen the calipers faced forward and backwards but some of the pics are generic. As for the fear itself it's too bad because it's a 373 posi but the one it's replacing is no good.

Vaugh3031, Ive heard of guys using the guts from an S10 rear. Problem is this one is no good. I dont know whats wrong with it. Ill ask this week. If its something other than the posi unit itself maybe I will take the whole thing.
Thanks

What axles are y'all using with the s10 diff?

Wouldn't you need the 28 spline gn axles?
