So I have an 1980 Monte Carlo with a press on pulley style Saginaw pump. GM started the press on pulleys since 1975 and later. I would like to swap to a keyway style pump. I found one at local auto parts store for a 1972 Chevy caprice which looks identical. However, the pump and reservoir are turned a bit not allowing the factory bracket that I have to mount to the pump. Not a big deal since I plan on getting an aftermarket bracket that looks way better then the factor bracket that also mounts the A/C compressor on it (I plan on getting a serpentine belt system years from now that has an A/C compressor, but for now need a cheap fix). So my question is this, has anyone installed a keyway type Saginaw pump on there G-body car without any issues, and what type of bracket did you use? Has anyone notice the pump design being different from the press fit to a keyway type pump?

I have the March Revolver Serp. system with the billet PS reservoir. I just replaced the pump (pump only) with a '71 Impala Saginaw pump. Napa Part# ps 38-5141. You may be able to replace the pump only and not have to worry about the brackets. Good luck.
