i finally put my new intake and carb on my car the other day and while i had the valve covers off i pulled the casting numbers on the heads. i found they were 1.94/1.50 heads from a 70 chevelle?
anyways, i was planning on buying aluminum 2.02/1.60 heads but if i can get mine machined for a lot less than buying new ones would be awesome.

how much better are the 2.02/1.60 with 200cc intake runners compared to my stockers with a good port and polish and some machine work?

Need more info:
-Displacement
-Compression ratio
-Cam specs
-Intake type
-Carb size/type
-Exhaust type
-Converter stall
-Gearing
Help us help you

350
9:1-10:1 pump gas basically
60104/60105 havent decided yet
performer rpm
600 for now, may move to 750 after cam and heads are done
will be headers, with purple hornie mufflers that bolt to collectors
stock, for now will be 2800-3200 when cam is in
3.73 posi 7.5

There really is no comparison in my opinion. stock heads are ancient. aluminum are going to cool better, be lighter and have better tolerances. I don't know a number but all the machinists I know say not to waste my money machining stock heads.

ya my plan was to just buy the summit ones with 200cc intake 64 cc combustion chambers. 2.02/1.60 and 1.5 roller rockers

Sounds like your new heads are the way to go. Not sure how you can prove the old ones are off a Chevelle but if someone's looking for that particular casting number and date code you could probably recoup some of your money.

just remember, when you swap to aluminum heads you need to up the compression. and the spark plugs will be completely different.
oh, and what he said. old casting are OLD! there's 40yrs worth of engineering since then.
