Uh it's installed whith or when the damper is being installed by incerting in the key way (on crank nose) keep the key a few thousanths lower in front", I sometimes file a tiny chamfer on the front edge to help it start into the matching Grove .Slide it (damper)as far as you can towards the key stop near the actual key as you will most likely have to jiggle the damper to the exact spot when you locate the spot it engages maybe take it back loose and practice untill you have the feel .Some people Tapp the front on with a hammer just to start the damper. There is a tool that screws into the end of the crank that allows you to press damper on the shaft actually (ato zoan).you do have to be carefull about it not riding out of the nose ,and into the timing cover as that can happen with the short woodruff keys anyways don't let that happen you can check the depth of the woodruff by feeling in the end of the groove with a steel wire to the right depth work slowly.. on this dont forget to put a slight amount of silicone on the nose to seal the groove from leaks
