I remember a while back reading a thread about a product called SeaFoam. Well im about to get an 87 mercury wagon with over 200,000 miles. Nothing is wrong with the engine at all, it runs great. Ive head of people using stuff like that in their engines and actually making them run WORSE. Do you think i should stay away from it??

what seafoam does is breaks down the carbon in yer engine. now if that said carbon is whats holding yer innards together, i wouldnt do it but theres no way to know unless ya take it apart. so...there ya go.

The guys that have the best luck with it I have found are the guys running rotary engines. It does a great job of breaking up the carbon that tends to cause the apex seals to stick.

But yeah as said if your engine is being held together by the carbon then yep gonna run worse.

I use it once a year but do not let it sit around. If I pour it into the tank I plan on driving it for a while. It works great for waking up sleeping motors. I wouldnt soak anything with rubber in it as it will eat it up eventually. But I love the stuff, it works like it says it will. You say your car runs great so I wouldnt touch it with anything. Why cause problems?
