I'm pretty sick and tired of my over the shoulder seat belt in my 83 monte carlo ss and was wondering if anyone has replaced theres with a set of lap belts? If so do you have any pics and how hard was it to install them?I was thinking of maybe using a set of 70-72 GM A-Body belts.

I modified a set of G body belts before to get rid of the shoulder belt before, be prepared for the cops to stop you because they can't see the belt and will try to give you tickets.

That would be a step backwards wouldn't it ? Shoulder belts can be repaired and they do save lives.
I sent mine off and had them completely redone with new webbing ,buckles .They work like brand new.

My seat belts are like new but i'm just tired of them rubbin across my neck.

They make pads for the seatbelts.....The harness is there for a reason, you delete it your playing with your safety.BTW if your in New York and you get stopped by a sharp cop, you'll drive away with paper 8)

X2 I did research on this because I was going to buy some aftermarket lap belts to replace the belts in my cutlass because they were the color I was looking for but I found out it is illegal to change from a 3 point seat belt to a 2 point belt. They changed to the 3 point because during an accident the 2 point could cause separation of the lumbar vertebrae and sometimes paralysis.

Hell in my 55 buick there are no seatbelts and it came factory that way.lol

You could always use something like this:

or sit on a pillow.

Actually they do make an "adult" version that helps to reposition the shoulder strap a little further to the left (or right depending on which side of the car you put it on) and away from your kneck.
